Scoping Study for a Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation Healing Centre

The Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) Healing Centre develops a culturally strong holistic healing model of care involving individual and group healing, community development, leadership and governance training, advocacy and education about the Kinchela Boys Home (KBH) history, to address the long term healing needs of the KBH Men, their family members and other members of the Stolen Generations.

As the first phrase of the project is completed with the decision and announcement of the location of the Healing Centre in May 2014, Muru Marri will contribute to the following phases of the implementation providing support and expertise in the development of a Healing Centre Implementation Plan.
Muru Marri will provide a series of strategic literature reviews, assist the creation of an evaluation framework and give input into research translation, evaluation, writing and advice upon request. This will inform the KBHAC’s developmental planning, consultations, Business Plan, fundraising strategies, proposal preparation and reporting to the Healing Foundation.

It is envisaged that the KBHAC Healing Centre model will develop further into a measurable approach with a focus on outcomes that assist with the healing of traumas that impact on the lives of Indigenous Australians, which in turn could be modified and used by other Aboriginal Healing Centres across NSW and Australia.
